Greater Cleveland Athletic Association
The Greater Cleveland Athletic Association (GCAA) is a group of dedicated volunteers that provide athletic programming to the youth of the area of Johnston County served by Cleveland Middle School and McGee's Crossroads Middle School and their feeder schools, Cleveland, McGee's, Polenta, and West View Elementary Schools. The organization was formed to provide athletic opportunities that are not provided by the county or municipality. We serve nearly 2,500 participants in spring and fall baseball, softball and soccer as well as winter and summer basketball and, as of Fall 07, volleyball.
Baseball & Softball:
T-Ball is offered for 4, 5 and 6 year olds, Machine Pitch for 7-8 year olds, Minor Leagues for 9-10 year olds, Major Leagues for 11-12 year olds and a new league “The Bigs” for 13-14 year olds. Softball programs are offered for girls ages 4-14.
There are three main levels of soccer in The North Carolina Youth Soccer Association and at GCAA: Recreation (ages 3-15, limited travel), Challenge (ages 8 and up, some travel), and Classic (ages 10 and up, travel involved).
Junior Bounce Academy: This Coed program is for Kindergarten and 1st grade boys and girls with a focus on FUNdamentals, rules of the game and teamwork.8U Co-Ed League:This league for 7-8 year old boys and girls emphasizes the basics of the game and rules while encouraging individual improvement and teamwork.Boys Fall & Winter Rec Leagues 10U, 12U,14U & 17U: Offered for boys ages 9-17, the program runs from November-February & features competitive basketball games or practices 2-3 times each week.Girls Fall & Winter Rec 10U & 12U Leagues: Offered for girls ages 9-12, the program runs from November-January & features competitive basketball games or practices 2-3 times each week.
GCAA has offered volleyball to the Cleveland and surrounding communities since 2007. We currently have two age divisions, ages 9-11 and ages 12-14.
